The natural dyes they mix to make the golden background are native to the region and represent the colors of the desert--yellow gold and a fiery red. The result is a wonderful yellow/gold background that shows off the fine embroidery work and small mirrored pieces beautifully. The bedspreads are cotton with a soft cotton backing.
